Handicap toilets or ADA toilets refer to toilets that comply with the guidelines from the Americans Disabilities Act.

There are two standard configurations for toilet design.

The first design is the smaller of the two: Round Front

The second design is the larger one, known as Elongated Front.

Height is then the next consideration when choosing a toilet. Height can range from 16.5" to 18" from the floor to the seat.

Height selection is probably the most important feature to consider when choosing a toilet that should be compliant with ADA guidelines. The toilet must be 18" high to comply. This is to allow for easy transfer to and from the seated position.
