1. What is a Re-Bath Bathtub?
The bathtubs we carry are brand new DuraBath SSP™ bathtubs that are custom manufactured to fit perfectly
over your old bathtub.
2. How are you able to match my old bathtub?
We thermoform an exact duplicate of your bathtub from an inventory of over 1000 bathtub molds, creating a custom
molded bath tub that will fit right over your existing tub. Because the fit is perfect, it will remain watertight.
3. Who will perform the bathtub installation and how long will it take?
Our talented bathroom renovation contractors can complete the job in less than a day. Re-Bath installers are factory
trained and certified in our specific installation methods. Our system is ready for use the next day.
4. How long will it last?
With proper care, DuraBath SSP™ will keep its high-glass beauty indefinitely. The beautiful impact resistant
surface we use will not fade, rust, chip, peel, or dent.
5. Why not just replace my old tub?
Bath replacement sometimes will disturb your floor, but we are glad to replace your existing porous tub with a beautiful
new Durabath SSP structural bathtub if that is your desire. We do have the ability to install new flooring and plumbing
with your project. If a floor is involved, the process can take up to four days. However, if the floor will not be
renovated, a replacement tub and walls will be installed in one day!
6. Why not refinish, re-glaze or repaint my old bathtub?
These are messy, smelly, and noxious spray applications that can easily chip, crack, peel and fade. Repeat applications
are necessary every one to three years due to cracking, peeling and discoloring.
7. Is it easy to clean and maintain?
Our products are non-porous so they are easy to clean.
8. What is a Bathtub Liner?
It is a brand-new Durabath SSP™ bathtub that fits precisely over the old bathtub.
9. What is a Wall System?
A Durabath SSP wall system designed to go over existing tile walls. We will first perform any necessary wall repairs to
be sure we are covering only dry, solid walls with our Durabath SSP.
10. What is it made of?
A durable, high-impact Durabath SSP™, approximately a 1/4 inch in thickness. This material will not chip, peel,
rust or crack. The smooth, non-porous, stain resistant, high gloss finish is extremely easy to clean. The original
application was for outdoor use in sailboats because it is lightweight, durable and very easy to take care of. Durabath
SSP™ is also used in airplane windshields and football helmets.
11. How are you able to match my bathtub so precisely?
We thermoform an exact duplicate of your bathtub from an inventory of over 1000 bathtub molds. For example, if your bathtub
is an American Standard bathtub made in 1952, We will have that exact mold to manufacture from.
12. How does you know which size bathtub liner to manufacture?
A salesperson first goes to the customer's home. They take two photographs and several measurements. With that information,
we can determine the size, age and manufacturer of the bathtub. We have over 1000 molds in our warehouse.
13. How are bathtub liners installed?
A certified bathtub installer scribes the bathtub liner for exact fit within tile walls. The bathtub is then cleaned with
denatured alcohol (denatured alcohol diluted 50% with water). The bath installer lines the existing bathtub with a special
proprietary blend of silicone adhesive called Thermal Expansion Silicone Sealant. This product is made exclusively for
Re-Bath by Dow Corning. Once the proper amount of adhesive is in place, the bath installer inserts the bathtub liner
over the existing bathtub. The new overflow and drain are installed. This process takes approximately 3 to 5 hours.
14. How long is the product warranty?
We offer a lifetime warranty on all Durabath SSP™™ material purchased from their dealers! A manufacturer warranty
for a brand-new bathtub is normally one year.
15. How are your wall systems different from other wall kits?
Every wall system is custom manufactured from heavy-gauge Durabath SSP™ and installed over your existing walls with
an exact fit. Do-it-yourself, one-size-fits-all wall kits can be difficult to install and maintain, and they are
manufactured from inexpensive paper-thin material.
16. Does the wall system need to be grouted?
No. Our system eliminates the need for grouting, as well as other tile maintenance problems.
17. Do I have to remove tiles?
No, in most cases, our wall systems are installed directly over existing solid wall or tile.
18. How do I clean the whirlpool system on my tub?
Cleaning your whirlpool system should become part of your bathing routine. Fill the tub so that the water covers all of
the jets. Turn on the motor and add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of dishwasher detergent (crystal type works best) or household bleach
to the water. Run the motor for 10 to 15 minutes. Turn off the motor and drain the water from the tub. Once all of the
water is drained from the tub you can run the motor again for 30 to 45 seconds to expel excess water from the whirlpool
system. It may require more than one cleaning if the system has not been cleaned regularly.
19. Why should I not use soaps, oils and bath detergent in a whirlpool tub?
Bubble bath type products leave an oily film on the inside of the whirlpool tubing. This oily film in a dark, moist and
relatively warm area is an ideal feeding ground for mold. If you were to accidentally use bubble bath type products, we
strongly recommend you clean your tub as described above.
